Man Killed in West Houston Bicycle Accident on Barker Cypress Road and S. Park View Drive

Houston, Texas (August 12, 2019) – A man was killed in a bicycle accident Monday morning in west Houston, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Barker Cypress Road and S. Park View Drive, north of I-10.

Police said a bicyclist and a Silverado pickup truck were heading southbound on Barker Cypress Road. The pickup driver stopped and didn’t see the bicyclist riding along the road.

The bicyclist had the right of way and was hit by the pickup at the intersection.

The victim, a black male between 50 and 60 years old, was killed in the crash. He was wearing a work uniform at the time of the crash.

Officers said there is no sidewalk on the stretch of road where the accident happened. They also said the man’s bike had a blinking light, but the area is not well lit.

Impairment was not a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
