22-Year-Old Man Killed in Edinburg Pedestrian Accident at FM 2812 and Brushline Road; Daniel Alberto Najera Arrested

Edinburg, Texas (June 5, 2020) – According to the DPS, a man has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident that happened Saturday night, just north of Edinburg.

Daniel Alberto Najera, 28, of Edinburg, was arrested on Thursday.

The deadly accident happened at about 10:17 p.m. May 30, at the intersection of FM 2812 and Brushline Road.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 22-year-old man was walking southbound on Brushline Road crossing FM 2812 when he was struck by a silver 2013 Chevrolet Impala that was traveling eastbound on FM 2812.

The man was taken to McAllen Medical Center, where he later died. His name has not been released.

The Impala driver, Najera, fled the scene after the accident. 

Najera was arrested on Thursday for allegedly failing to stop and render aid, resulting in death. He was booked at the Hidalgo County Jail.                      

The Texas Department of Public Safety troopers is investigating the crash.
