Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on FM 1960 near Deerbrook Park Boulevard; Arturo Perez-Gallegos Arrested

Houston, Texas (March 17, 2020) – A man pushing a bicycle was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run accident near Humble, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash took place around 10:00 p.m. March 15, in the 8900 block of West FM 1960 near Deerbrook Park Boulevard.

Police said the man was pushing a bicycle when he was hit by a speeding Chevrolet truck driven by 33-year-old Arturo Perez-Gallegos. The Chevrolet dragged the man underneath it.

At least one other car also hit the man.

The victim was found in the ditch and was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

Perez-Gallegos fled the scene. He was later found in the bathroom of a gas station about a mile west of the crash scene, and he showed several signs of intoxication. 

He was arrested and was charged with Fail to Stop and Render Aid (Fatal) and Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Perez-Gallegos, a Mexican citizen, is in the United States illegally.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
