Man Struck, Seriously Injured by Motorcycle on SW 45th Avenue in Amarillo

61-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in Amarillo Pedestrian Accident on SW 45th Avenue near South Georgia Street

Amarillo, Texas (August 6, 2020) – A 61-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday evening after being struck by a motorcycle in Amarillo, according to police.

The crash happened around 5:32 p.m., August 5, on SW 45th Avenue near South Georgia Street.

Police said the man was walking northbound across the street while a motorcycle ridden by a 47-year old man was heading eastbound.

The motorcyclist switched lanes to avoid hitting the man, but the pedestrian fell and hit the crash bar of the motorcycle.

The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The motorcyclist was uninjured in the crash.

The Amarillo Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
