Marcus Gerald Killed in Plano Two-Vehicle Crash at Jupiter Road and Plano Pkwy; Angel Velasco Arrested

Plano, Texas (February 1, 2022) – One person was killed Sunday morning in a DWI crash at a Plano intersection, according to the police.

The fatal crash occurred just before 10:00 a.m., January 30, at the intersection of Jupiter Road and E. Plano Parkway.

Police said Angel David Velasco, 34, of Richardson, was driving a 2006 red Chrysler Town and Country van northbound on Jupiter when he ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a 2019 white Hyundai Electra that was traveling westbound on E. Plano Parkway.

The Hyundai driver, Marcus Jarod Gerald, 39, of Mullins, South Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Velasco was arrested and has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The Plano Police Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
