Marcus Hernandez and Jerry Cornett Killed in Gaines County Two-Vehicle Crash at CR 205 and CR 206

Gaines County, Texas (December 28, 2021) – Two people were killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Gaines County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 8:42 a.m., December 27, at the intersection of County Road 205 and County Road 206.

Authorities said a vehicle was traveling northbound on CR 205 while a second vehicle, which was towing a trailer, was traveling eastbound on CR 206.

The first vehicle failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and was struck by the second vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle, 29-year-old Omar Ontiveros, was uninjured in the crash.

The occupants of the first vehicle, 22-year-old Marcus Hernandez and 66-year-old Jerry Cornett, both from Seminole, were killed in the crash. They were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
