Marcus Ortega ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Gaines County Crash on Highway 180 near Seminole

Gaines County, Texas (July 10, 2019) – Authorities have identified the man who was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident in Gaines County.

Marcus Ortega, 22, of Tampa, Florida, died in the crash that occurred at about 8:38 a.m. Monday, July 8 on Highway 180, approximately four miles east of Seminole.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Ortega was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 180 when the driver of an eastbound pickup truck turned left into the path of Ortega, causing the accident.

Ortega, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was taken to Seminole Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Carlos Guevara, 60, of Seminole, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

No further details were immediately disclosed.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
