The crash happened around 6:07 p.m. on June 16, at the intersection of N. University Drive and E. Austin Street.

Police said Zachary Cleveland of Nacogdoches was driving a GMC Canyon pickup northbound on N. University Drive when he collided with a westbound Volkswagen driven by Margaret Naranjo, also of Nacogdoches.

The force of the impact pushed both vehicles northbound, where they collided with a Ford Ranger pickup driven by Lucresha Phillips, also of Nacogdoches.

Naranjo was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. She was later airlifted to a Tyler hospital.

Phillips and Cleveland were uninjured in the crash.

The NPD Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.

We wish Margaret Naranjo a quick recovery.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
