Maria Zamora, Reynaldo Alvarado Jr., and Artlette Castillo Killed in Los Fresnos Two-vehicle Crash on FM 803 near Highway 100

Los Fresnos, Texas (September 13, 2020) – A grandmother and her two grandchildren were killed last week Wednesday in a head-on collision in Los Fresnos, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened at about 1:53 p.m., September 2, on FM 803 North near Highway 100.

DPS said a Black GMC Yukon was traveling northbound when its left rear tire blew out, causing the driver to lose control, veer into the southbound lane and crash head-on into a Gray Dodge Magnum driven by Maria Guadalupe Zamora, 49.

Zamora was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two grandchildren, Reynaldo Alvarado Jr., 6, and Artlette Castillo, 2, were taken to local hospitals where they later died. The victims were from Port Isabel.

Investigators said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
