Mario Alberto Benevidez ID’d as One of Two Killed in Bishop Car Accident on FM 70 near County Road 73
Bishop, Texas (May 25, 2019) – The Department of Public Safety has identified Mario Alberto Benevidez, 18, of Kingsville as one of the two people who were killed Friday night in a head-on collision near Bishop.
The deadly crash occurred at about 11:15 p.m. Friday, May 24 on Farm Market 70 near County Road 73.
According to the DPS report, a car was heading westbound on FM 70 when for an undetermined reason, it veered into the wrong side of the road. Another vehicle heading eastbound attempted to take evasive action, but both cars ended up colliding head-on.
Benevidez and a two-year-old toddler, who were in the vehicle that entered the wrong lane, were killed in the accident. According to the DPS, the two-year-old child was seated inside a car seat when the accident occurred.
Two people were taken to Christus Spohn Shoreline in unknown condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
