Mario Baez Jr., Killed in Laredo Two-Vehicle Crash on Loop 20

Laredo, Texas (April 3, 2022) – A man was killed Saturday morning in a head-on collision in Laredo, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 7:00 a.m., April 2, in the 28019 block of Loop 20.

Police said Mario Alberto Baez Jr., 31, was driving a brown Nissan Xterra northbound while a 28-year-old Hispanic man was driving a black Volkswagen Tiguan southbound.

The Volkswagen crossed over the center divider, the yellow median poles, and drove into the northbound lanes, where it crashed head-on into the Nissan Xterra.

Baez was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were provided.

The Laredo Police Crash Team and the LPD Crimes Against Persons investigators are conducting the investigation.
