Martin Islas Killed, Eloy Bautista, Francis Williams and Juan Bravo Injured in Calhoun County Three-vehicle Crash on State Highway 35 near Meadow view lane

Calhoun County, Texas (December 20, 2019) – One person was killed and three others were injured in a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Calhoun County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash occurred around 5:38 a.m. December 19, on State Highway 35 near Meadow view Lane.

DPS said Martin Islas, 56, of Victoria, was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup southwest on the highway following a 2003 Ford F150 pickup driven by Roberto Delossantos, 41, of Port Lavaca. Juan Ellierh Bravo, 23, of Harlingen, was driving a 2011 Ford Expedition northwest on the highway.

Bravo reportedly fell asleep and drifted into the southbound lane where he hit Delossantos’ truck.

Bravo then hit the Chevrolet. The impact caused the Chevrolet to side skid and roll into a ditch.

Islas was declared dead at the scene.

Eloy Franco Bautista of Port Lavaca and Francis Lee Williams, 40, of Port Lavaca, were taken to Memorial Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. They were passengers in the Chevy.

Bravo was taken to Citizen’s Medical Center in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
