Marvin Summers Killed in Midland Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 349 near Tom Craddick Highway

Midland, Texas (February 9, 2022) – A man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Midland, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash occurred around 1:30 p.m., February 8, in the 7200 block of State Highway 349, north of Tom Craddick Highway.

Authorities said Marvin Leon Summers, 69, of Lubbock, was driving a Cadillac Escalade when he failed to control his speed and crashed into a truck-tractor, which was attempting to make a right-hand turn onto a private drive.

Summers was killed in the crash. He was in Midland for an event in his campaign for Texas Railroad Commissioner.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
