Marvin Willey Injured in Buna Crash on Highway 96 Monday afternoon

Buna, Texas (August 30, 2022) – Marvin Willey, 23, was injured after his pickup truck rear-ended a stopped 18-wheeler near Buna on Monday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash took place on Highway 96, just south of Buna, on Monday, August 29.

DPS said Willey, a resident of Burkeville, was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup truck northbound on Highway 96 when he failed to maintain a single lane and veered onto the shoulder.

The pickup truck reportedly hit the corner of the big-rig trailer. The pickup truck then continued down and hit the back of a 2021 Freightliner.

Willey sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The truck driver, identified as Oscar Argueta, 49, of Florida, was uninjured.

Willey was charged with Failure to Drive in a Single Lane. Additional information is not available at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, pedestrian, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
