Matilde Martinez Romero Killed in El Paso Two-Vehicle Crash on North Loop

El Paso, Texas (October 17, 2019) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in El Paso, according to the police.

The crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. on October 15, in the 8000 block of North Loop at LaFayette.

Police said Matilde Martinez Romero, 77, was driving a 2005 Nissan Sentra westbound on North Loop when she turned left on LaFayette and was broadsided by an eastbound 2018 Chevrolet Trax.

Romero was taken to University Medical Center where she later died.

Investigators said failing to yield the right of way and no seat belt were factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
