Maximiliano Gabriel-Gutierrez and Julio Niubo-Olazabal Killed in Hartley County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 281
Hartley County, Texas (November 12, 2021) – Two people were killed, and another was injured Wednesday morning in a fiery head-on collision in Hartley County, according to the DPS.
The fatal crash happened on November 10, on FM 281, 14 miles west of Cactus.
DPS said Maximiliano Gabriel-Gutierrez, 35, of Cactus, was driving a 2006 Ford Expedition eastbound on the wrong side of the highway in a no-passing zone when it crashed head-on into a westbound Mack Truck tractor driven by Julio Niubo-Olazabal, 55, of Dalhart.
The impact propelled the Expedition into a ditch, ejecting both the driver and the passenger. Both vehicles then caught fire.
Gabriel-Gutierrez and Niubo-Olazabal were pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
No other information was available.
The Texas DPS is investigating the crash.
