Mayra Chacon Killed in Stephenville Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 8

Stephenville, Texas (July 27, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, one person was killed, and another was injured Friday morning in a head-on collision, west of Stephenville.

The fatal crash occurred around 6:23 a.m., July 23, on Farm-to-Market Road 8.

DPS said Javier Ponce, 18, of Stephenville, was driving a 2005 Chrysler Sebring westbound on the highway, when for unknown reasons, the Chrysler crossed into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2011 BMW.

The BMW driver, Mayra Chacon, 46, of Stephenville, was killed in the crash.

Ponce was taken to a Fort Worth hospital with unknown injuries.

No other details were available.

The crash remains under investigation.
