Euless, Texas (May 17, 2022) – Authorities have identified the innocent driver who died Tuesday night after a police chase ended in a tragic collision in Euless as Melissa Mapa. She grew up in South Dublin before moving to Texas to study at the University of Texas.

The crash happened at around 11:55 p.m. May 10 on FM 157 at Trinity Boulevard.

Fort Worth Police said a Euless police officer attempted to stop a black Ford Focus, which had two different license plates, one of which had expired.

The officer turned on his lights and siren to try to pull the vehicle, but the driver sped off. The vehicle collided with Mapa’s car that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The suspect got out of his car after the crash and tried to flee the scene. He was later arrested for evading arrest and may face further charges.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fort Worth Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
