Micah McAfoose ID’d as Stephen F Austin State University Student Killed in Corrigan Crash on U.S. Highway 59

Corrigan, Texas (January 22, 2023) – The Stephen F. Austin State University student who died following a traffic accident involving an 18-wheeler on Friday afternoon in Corrigan has been identified as Former SFA baseball team member Micah Alan McAfoose, 18, of Cypress.

The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 20, on U.S. Highway 59.

Authorities said McAfoose was driving a 2007 Nissan Versa southbound on U.S. Highway 59 when an 18-wheeler made a left-hand turn traveling northbound from Plant Road. The Nissan hit the trailer of the 18-wheeler, causing the car to be pinned under the trailer.

McAfoose was pronounced dead at the scene while his passenger was transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Corrigan police are investigating the crash.
