Michael Kelly Burke Jr. Killed, Rigoberto Genaro Villarreal Severely Injured in Calhoun County Car Crash on Highway 185

Calhoun County, Texas (September 7, 2019) – A man was killed, and another was seriously injured in a traffic collision Friday morning in Calhoun County, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash was reported at around 5:24 a.m. September 6, on Texas Highway 185 at Calhoun Chemical, LLC.

Authorities said Michael Kelly Burke, Jr., 35, of Victoria, was exiting the Chemical plant in his Chevy Cavalier to get onto Texas Highway 185. At the same time, Burke’s neighbor, Rigoberto Genaro Villarreal, 32, of Victoria, was driving a GMC Sierra pickup truck on the highway when Burke failed to yield to him, and the two vehicles collided.

Burke was declared dead at the scene.

Villarreal was taken to DeTar Navarro and was later airlifted to San Antonio Medical Center in serious condition. 

The crash remains under investigation.
