Woman Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Eastex Freeway near Kingwood Drive

Houston, Texas (February 21, 2022) – A mother was fatally hit by a vehicle Sunday night in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:00 p.m., February 20, in the southbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway, just north of Kingwood Drive.

Police said a woman was driving a red Honda sedan on the freeway when she was involved in a hit-and-run crash. The woman stepped out of her car after the crash to check on her children in the backseat.

A pickup truck was trying to avoid hitting the sedan, and it struck the woman who was standing on the freeway.

Another pickup truck rear-ended the sedan.

The 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

Both drivers of the pickup trucks remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, pedestrian, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation
