Killeen, Texas (May 4, 2020) – According to a local news source, one person was critically injured Sunday evening in a motorcycle accident at a Killeen intersection.

The accident took place shortly before 6:00 p.m. May 3, at the intersection of Fort Hood Street and Elms Road.

Police said a black motorcycle was heading southbound in the inside lane of Fort Hood Street when it entered the intersection on a green light. A gray car that was facing northbound in the center turning lane failed to yield right of way and turned left in front of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision. The car had a turn signal on.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

We wish the injured victim a quick recovery.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
