Motorcyclist Killed in Fiery Two-Vehicle Crash on South Broadway Avenue in Tyler

Man Killed in Tyler Motorcycle Accident on South Broadway Avenue near Amherst Street
Tyler, Texas (January 10, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday night in a traffic crash in Tyler, according to a local news source.
The deadly accident was reported just before midnight Wednesday, January 9 at 3415 South Broadway Avenue near Amherst Street.
According to the report, a motorcycle and a Toyota pickup truck were both traveling southbound on South Broadway Avenue near Leslie’s Pools when the motorcycle stopped or slowed for the red light and was rear-ended by the pickup truck.
The force of the impact caused the pickup truck to slammed into a utility pole and burst into flames.
Fire crews responded to the scene and they extinguished the burning pickup. They then worked around live electrical lines that were pulled down across the road.
The male rider was taken to UT Health- Tyler, where he was declared dead. His name has not been disclosed pending identification and notification of his relatives.
Two occupants of the pickup truck sustained unspecified injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Traffic was blocked on Broadway northbound from Winchester for several hours as emergency crews worked at the scene.
Authorities are still investigating the crash.
