San Antonio, Texas (September 10, 2020) – A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday night in San Antonio’s Northeast Side, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 11:50 p.m., September 8, near the 15100 block of Nacogdoches Road at Vigil View.

Police said the motorcyclist was waiting at a traffic light when a Nissan 350Z started to rev its engine. The motorcyclist also revved his engine, and when the light turned green, both vehicles sped off.

The Nissan turned into a shopping center near the light, but the motorcyclist continued speeding off. A Toyota Sienna that was traveling southbound on Nacogdoches Road moved into the center turn lane to turn left onto Vigil View and was hit by the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases the accident results in death.
