Officer Alec “MarJack” Martinez, Presley, and Brayleigh Injured in Potter County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 1061

Potter County, Texas (June 6, 2021) – A Dalhart Police officer and his wife were seriously injured on Friday in a two-vehicle crash that also left their daughter injured in Potter County, according to the police.

The crash happened on June 4, on FM 1061.

Police said a passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on the highway behind a pickup truck.

The driver of the passenger vehicle failed to control their speed and rear-ended a pickup truck that had slowed down to turn into a private drive.

Officer Alec “MarJack” Martinez and his wife, Presley, sustained life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to the hospital, where they have since undergone multiple surgeries. Their daughter, Brayleigh, was also taken to the hospital, where she received a cast to repair a right ankle fracture that she sustained in the crash.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Officer Martinez and his family with medical expenses.

The crash closed the highway, and motorists were urged to avoid the area.

The crash remains under investigation.
