Officer, Civilian Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on South Freeway in Houston

Officer and Civilian Injured in Houston Three-Vehicle Crash on South Freeway at Southmore

Houston, Texas (April 4, 2022) – Two people, including an officer, were injured Saturday night in a three-vehicle crash in Houston’s South Side, according to the authorities.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m., April 2, at the intersection of South Freeway and Southmore.

Authorities said a police officer was responding to a homicide scene on the South Freeway with lights and siren on. A pickup truck disregarded the lights and siren and drove through the intersection, causing the officer to crash into the pickup truck. The officer also crashed into an SUV that was pulling a trailer with a large grill on it.

The pickup truck landed on the trailer after the crash.

Both the officer and the pickup truck driver were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No other details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
