Houston Police Officer Injured in U.S. 59 Crash near Highway 288
Houston, Texas (March 3, 2019) – An officer was hospitalized Saturday morning following a traffic accident in Houston, according to a local news source.
The wreck occurred at an unspecified time Saturday, March 2 on U.S. 59 near Highway 288.
As per the report, authorities said the Houston police officer trying to help a pedestrian on the freeway when for an unknown reason his patrol vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle driven by a 55-year-old man.
The officer was taken to a hospital with facial fractures and a fractured rib.
The 55-year-old man was transported into custody on suspicion of intoxication, but he was later released after it was determined he was not intoxicated.
The crash remains under investigation.
