Olivia Mendez ID’d as Girl Killed in Dallas Drag Racing Crash on Lake June Road
Dallas, Texas (May 26, 2019) – A 9-year-old girl was killed and another child was critically injured Friday evening in a drag racing in Dallas, according to the police.
The fatal crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. May 24, in the 10700 block of Lake June Road.
Police said three cars were drag racing eastbound on Lake June Road when another vehicle, occupied by Olivia Mendez, 9, and her 3-year-old sister was turning left westbound off Lake June Road when it was hit by one of the drag racing cars.
Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene. Her sister was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and another passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the racing car was taken to the hospital but was later released.
The drivers of the other racing cars fled the scene but were later found by police.
The police are investigating the crash.
