Omar Ghawtah Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Alief Clodine Road in Houston

Omar Ghawtah ID’d as 16-Year-Old Boy Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Alief Clodine Road near Westpark Tollway

Harris County, Texas (July 20, 2022) – Authorities have identified the 16-year-old boy who was killed after being hit by a pickup truck when he ran onto the road while being chased by a dog in Houston.

Omar Ghawtah died in the crash that happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, on Alief Clodine Road near the Westpark Tollway.

Authorities said Ghawtah was being chased by a dog when he ran onto the road, where he was struck by a 2007-2014 white Chevrolet Silverado.

Ghawtah was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck did not stop to render aid to Ghawtah and fled eastbound on Alief Clodine Road.

Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
