One Injured in Ambulance Crash on Highway 31 near Chandler

1 Injured in Chandler Ambulance Crash on Highway 31

Chandler, Texas (October 24, 2019) – One person was injured on Tuesday in a traffic collision involving an ambulance near Chandler, a local news source reported.

The crash occurred on Tuesday, October 22, on Highway 31 at the Smith/Henderson county line.

DPS said Jose Martinez Moran, 21, was driving a Nissan westbound in the eastbound lane of the highway when he hit an eastbound UT Health East Texas ambulance.

The impact caused the ambulance to roll over.

The passenger in the ambulance was taken to UT Health East Texas in an unknown condition. The passenger was not a patient.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Moran was arrested at the scene for DWI and having an open alcohol container. He was taken to the Smith County Jail and he bonded out on a $500 surety bond.

The crash remains under investigation.
