One Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on South Koenigheim Street in San Angelo; Carlos Perez Arrested

Driver Injured in San Angelo Hit-and-Run Crash on South Koenigheim Street; Carlos Perez Arrested

San Angelo, Texas (February 12, 2020) – One person was injured in a hit-and-run crash Sunday afternoon in San Angelo, according to the police.

The crash happened around 2:40 p.m., February 9, in the 1300 block of South Koenigheim Street.

According to a preliminary investigation, 23-year-old Carlos Perez of Yuma, Arizona, was driving a silver-colored Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, with out-of-state plates, northbound on the street. 

Perez was reportedly racing with another vehicle when he collided with an SUV.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

Perez fled the scene and was later arrested after a tip from a citizen.

Perez was arrested for Felony Accident Involving Injury. Investigators learned he was operating a shared-vehicle at the time crash.

Perez and his colleagues were in town performing temporary construction work.

The crash remains under investigation.
