1 Killed and Several Injured in Kaufman County Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 80 at CR 317

Elmo, Texas (February 18, 2020) – One person was killed, and several others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night near Elmo in eastern Kaufman County, according to the police.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. February 17, on U.S. Highway 80 at County Road 316.

DPS said a Lexus was attempting to cross U.S. Highway 80 from CR 317 when it was struck by a flatbed truck.

One person in the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene.

At least five or six other people were injured in the crash. Two of the victims had to be airlifted to area hospitals. The other victims were transported by ground ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation.
