Otabek Mamadaliev Killed, Randy Rankins and Beth Knox Injured in Smith County Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

Smith County, Texas (May 2, 2023) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Wednesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash in Smith County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 2:00 p.m., April 26, on Interstate 20, just west of Lindale.

DPS said three semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle were traveling westbound on the interstate. One of the semi-trucks rear-ended the other two semi-trucks and the passenger vehicle.

The driver of the semi-truck that collided with the other vehicles, Otabek T. Mamadaliev, 50, of Newburgh, New York, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The driver of another semi-truck, Randy J. Rankins, 54, of Statesville, North Carolina, was taken to a Tyler hospital for treatment.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, Beth F. Knox, 56, of Lindale, was taken to a nearby medical center for treatment.

The driver of the third semi-truck, Jared L. Williams, 60, of Shreveport, Louisiana, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
