Paula Long Killed, Crispin Esparza Injured in Winnie Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 73 at Englin Road

Winnie, Texas – One person was killed and another was injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Winnie, according to the troopers.

The fatal crash happened around 4:49 p.m., March 5, at the intersection of State Highway 73 and Englin Road.

Troopers said a Ram 1500 was traveling westbound on SH 73 while a Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Englin Road. The Toyota driver, Paula Long, 71, of Winnie, failed to yield to the Ram and was struck. 

Long was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ram driver, 48-year-old Crispin Esparza of Houston, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
