Person Hit, Killed by 18-Wheeler on I-35 in Austin

One Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 35 near Airport Boulevard

Austin, Texas (June 3, 2021) – A pedestrian was fatally hit by an 18-wheeler Wednesday morning in central Austin, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 3:22 a.m., June 2, on Interstate 35, near Airport Blvd, just north of the upper and lower deck split.

Police said a person was struck by an 18-wheeler on the interstate.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 18-wheeler driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The accident closed the northbound lanes of the interstate between Airport Boulevard and 51st Street for about three hours. The lanes were reopened around 6:30 a.m.

An investigation is underway.
