Person Hit, Killed by Tow Truck on SH 183 in Irving

One Killed in Irving Pedestrian Accident on State Highway 183 

Irving, Texas (June 5, 2021) – A person was fatally hit by a tow truck Friday morning in Irving, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 7:00 a.m., June 4 on State Highway 183.

Police said officers were working on a minor crash in the westbound lanes of the highway. A friend or family member of a woman who was involved in the crash parked their vehicle on the eastbound side of the highway and ran across several traffic lanes to help the woman.

The individual managed to cross all the eastbound lanes but was struck by a tow truck while attempting to cross the westbound Express lanes. The victim was killed in the crash. Their identity has not been released.

The crashes closed several eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway. The lanes have since been reopened.

The police are conducting the investigation.
