Phyllis Scott Killed in Lufkin Two-Vehicle Crash at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Ellen Trout Drive

Lufkin, Texas (October 10, 2020) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Lufkin, according to officials.

The fatal crash happened around 1:40 p.m., October 8, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Ellen Trout Drive.

Authorities said Phyllis Scott, 77, of Lake Charles, La., was driving a Toyota Avalon on MLK when she failed to yield the right of way at the intersection and was T-boned by an 18-wheeler that was heading eastbound on Ellen Trout Drive.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Matthew Fry, 43, of Minden, Louisiana, and his passenger, Natasha White, 41, of Jacksonville, were taken to the hospital where they were treated and released.

The crash remains under investigation.
