One Injured in Jim Wells County Plane Crash off FM 1540 near Sandia

Jim Wells County, Texas (June 4, 2020) – One person was injured Wednesday morning in a plane crash in Jim Wells County, according to officials.

The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. June 3, off FM 1540 east of Sandia.

Officials said the plane was taking off when it hit an ant mound or a gopher hole, and it clipped a tree before crashing.

The pilot was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The FAA is investigating the crash.
