57-Year-Old Placida Hernandez-Ramirez Killed in Dallas Pedestrian Accident on U.S. Highway 75

Dallas, Texas (February 23, 2020) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident early Sunday morning in Dallas, according to the police.

The accident happened at about 4:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 75 near the Coit Road exit.

Police said Placida Hernandez-Ramirez, 57, was driving northbound on the highway when she started to slow down because there was a wrecked vehicle that was blocking the right lane. Her vehicle was then rear-ended by another vehicle driven by a 28-year-old man.

The force of the impact pushed Hernandez-Ramirez’s vehicle across the main lanes of the highway before it came to a stop in the left and middle lanes.

As Hernandez-Ramirez and the man were exchanging information, a woman hit her vehicle and Hernandez-Ramirez, who was standing outside the open door of her vehicle.

Hernandez-Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman who hit her was taken to Medical City Hospital with minor injuries.

The man who had rear-ended Hernandez-Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was taken into custody and is facing a DWI charge.

The crash remains under investigation.
