Rafael Lacayo ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Port Arthur Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 347near Woodlawn Street

Port Arthur, Texas (October 11, 2022) – The man who died after he was hit by a vehicle on Sunday night in Port Arthur has been identified as Rafael Antonio Simpson Lacayo, 60, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly accident occurred at around 11:00 p.m., on October 9, on Highway 347 southbound near Woodlawn Street.

DPS said Lacayo was walking down the center of the road when he was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

Lacayo was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver. The suspect’s vehicle possibly has damage to its front right and is blue in color.
