Regena Avila Killed, Allen Scott Jr and Aaron Dorsey Injured in Upshur County Two-Vehicle Crash at SH 300 and FM 726

Upshur County, Texas (November 13, 2021) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Upshur County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 8:36 a.m., November 12, at the intersection of State Highway 300 and FM 726.

DPS said Regena D. Avila, 52, of Gilmer, was driving a 2003 Toyota Avalon westbound on FM 726 when she ran the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by a 2014 Peterbilt truck-tractor towing a trailer that was traveling northwest on SH 300.

Avila was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Avalon, Aaron L. Dorsey, 32, of Gilmer, was taken to UT Health East Texas – Tyler in critical condition.

The Peterbilt driver, Allen Scott Jr., 48, of Kilgore, was taken to Longview Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
