Richard Thompson Injured in Hardin County School Bus Crash on FM 92

Hardin County, Texas (March 12, 2021) – Two people were injured Thursday morning in a traffic collision involving a Silsbee ISD school bus in Hardin County, DPS said.

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m., March 11, on FM 92.

DPS said the school bus was traveling northbound on the highway, and with the flashing stop lights activated, it stopped waiting for children to board the bus. A 2009 Toyota pickup truck was traveling southbound on the highway and was being followed by a 2014 Dodge passenger vehicle.

The Toyota stopped for the school bus and was rear-ended by the Dodge. The force of the impact caused the Dodge and the Toyota to cross into the northbound lane, where they hit the school bus.

The Toyota driver, Richard Thompson, 53, of Spurger, and the Dodge driver, David Wallet, 70, of Fred, were taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with unknown injuries.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.

The school bus driver was uninjured in the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
