Robert Montgomery Killed in Polk County Pedestrian Accident on US 59

Polk County, Texas (January 14, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, a pedestrian was fatally hit by a truck Wednesday night in Polk County, one mile north of Livingston.

The deadly accident happened around 6:20 p.m., January 14, on US 59.

According to a preliminary investigation, Robert Montgomery, 54, was attempting to cross the highway and ran into the path of a southbound 2020 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer. Montgomery was then struck by the truck.

Montgomery was pronounced at the scene.

The Freightliner driver, Tyrone Freeman, 49, and passenger, Randy Bright of Fairburn, 43, GA, were uninjured in the crash.

The Texas DPS is investigating the crash.
