Robert Newton Pedestrian Killed in Hit-And-Run Crash on Freeport and Bandera Streets in east Harris County

Robert Newton ID’d as Man Killed in Harris County Pedestrian Crash on Freeport and Bandera Streets

Harris County, Texas (January 12, 2019) – The man who was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Cloverleaf in east Harris County on Thursday morning has been identified as Robert Newton.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 10 at Freeport and Bandera streets.
Deputies said Ronnie Allen Isbel, 51, of Houston, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound in the 1000 block of Freeport Street when he ran a stop sign at Bandera Street and struck Newton, who was walking in the crosswalk.
Newton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Isbel fled the scene after the incident but was caught shortly after and arrested. He is charged with felony murder and failure to stop and render aid in crash involving death.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
