Robert Owens Killed in Carthage Bicycle Accident on Texas 149

Carthage, Texas (August 11, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, a man was killed Monday morning in a bicycle accident about two miles northwest of Carthage.

The deadly accident happened around 5:45 a.m., August 9, on Texas 149.

DPS said Robert Owens, 66, of Carthage, was riding a bicycle northwest when he was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado that was also traveling northwest.

Owens was pronounced dead at the scene.

The conditions of the Chevrolet driver, Jose Galvan-Ramirez, 52, of Marshall, and his passenger, Miguel Garcia, 42, of Marshall, were not disclosed.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
