Roberto Robles Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 281 in Edinburg

Roberto Robles ID’d as Driver Killed in Edinburg Crash on U.S. 281

Edinburg, Texas (April 21, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the driver who died following a head-on crash on Thursday evening near Edinburg as 46-year-old Roberto Carlos Robles of Edinburg.

The crash happened at around 6:10 p.m. Thursday, April 20, on U.S. 281 about 25 miles north of Edinburg, DPS said.

A 2014 Nissan Sentra, driven by Robles, was traveling southbound on northbound lanes of U.S. 281 when the Nissan collided head-on with a 2021 Lexus GX460 that was heading northbound.

Robles was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lexus sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation by the DPS.
