Roberto Zubia Killed in Dumas Pedestrian Accident on North 8th Street at US Highway 287
Dumas, Texas (August 21, 2019) – A person was killed in a traffic accident Friday night in Dumas, according to a local news source.
The deadly accident occurred around 9:30 p.m., August 16, at North 8th Street and US Highway 287.
As per the report, a 2016 Volvo 18-wheeler was traveling on North 8th Street when the driver failed to yield the right of way to a second semi-truck while entering US Highway 287, resulting in a collision.
The impact pushed the Volvo off the roadway and into a crowd of pedestrians, who were standing near the door of the Loves Truck Stop.
The Volvo collided with five other vehicles before coming to a stop.
One of the pedestrians, 26-year-old Roberto Zubia, was declared dead at the scene.
Three other people, including a child, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
An investigation is ongoing.
