Rodney Ricketts and Laurie Gaddis Hospitalized after Sherman Motorcycle Accident at FM 1417 and FM 691

Sherman, Texas (April 13, 2023) – 57-year-old Rodney Ricketts and 54-year-old Laurie Ann Gaddis were injured after they were involved in a deadly crash that happened Monday night in Sherman.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at the intersection of FM 1417 and FM 691 on Monday, April 10.

DPS said Christopher Brooks Cavender, 40, of Sherman, was riding his motorcycle northbound on FM- 1417 when he failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of FM 691 and hit a pickup truck that was passing through the intersection.

After the collision, the pickup overturned while Cavender was thrown off his motorcycle and hit a car that was stopped at the intersection.

Cavender was transported to Texoma Medical Center (TMC), where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, now identified as Ricketts,  and his two passengers, Gaddis, and a 10-year-old juvenile, were transported to TMC with non-incapacitating injuries.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
