Roman Romero Killed in Car Accident on Highway 92 in Custer County

Roman Romero ID’d as Person Killed in Custer County Crash on Highway 92 near Merna

Custer County, Texas (July 16, 2019) – The person who was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident in Custer County has been identified as Roman Romero, 40, of Temple, according to authorities.

The deadly accident happened at about 8:40 a.m. Thursday, July 11 on Highway 92, about 2 miles west of Merna.

The authorities said a 2002 Dodge pickup driven by Romero, crossed the center divider on Highway 92 for unknown reasons and hit a 2016 Ford F-350, hauling a trailer hauling a skid loader.

As a result of the crash, the pickup flipped onto the driver’s side while the Ford’s trailer break loose, tip, and pin the skid loader against the Ford pickup.

Romero was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Ford pickup, Kevin Jensen, 49, of Broken Bow and the rear passenger, Erik Jensen, 19, also of Broken Bow were trapped in the truck and had to be extricated by emergency crews.

The front-seat passenger in the Ford pickup, Brock Jensen, was able to get out of the truck.

Kevin Jensen and Erik Jensen were airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney for treatment. As of Friday morning Kevin Jensen was in good condition and Erik Jensen has since been released from the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
