Ronald Smith Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on SL 494 near Porter

Ronald Smith Killed in Porter Bicycle Accident on SL 494 near Royal Purple

Porter, Texas (April 30, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, a man was killed earlier this month in a hit-and-run accident near Porter.

The deadly accident occurred around 3:03 a.m., April 9, on SL 494, north of Royal Purple.

DPS said Ronald David Smith was riding his motorized bicycle when he was struck by a red SUV.

The driver of the SUV reportedly removed Smith’s bicycle and property from the scene before fleeing.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The troopers are looking for the SUV, which will have damage to either the front or the front-right side. 

The DPS is investigating the crash. Anyone with any information about the accident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP (7867). All tipsters will remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward of up to $1,000.
